I own these earbuds and they have really clear and crisp sound. They're great for pop, rock, classical and acoustic music. They're adequate for r&b and rap, but won't shake your eardrums with low freq. Try adjusting the equalizer for a little more bass response. If the seal in your ears is right, the bass is not bad.

Adobe Illustrator is also using 100% of the cpu on my macbook. This is a trial version, but doesn't even complete tasks (gives error message after a long wait). What is going on?

I've found the noise of the Trackpad a bit excessive as well. I've been experimenting with the Trackpad settings in System Preferences and find that the combination of "Tap to Click" and "Dragging" works well with a little practice.

Nice review!

The glossy display is the one thing holding me back! As I work in ever-changing environments, the high-gloss brings too much risk that myself and my clients may be faced with too much glare & reflection.

I'm hoping Apple announces a matte version in Q1.

Cheers,
Will

I just put a base-level Air through the paces for a few hours, and have yet to see it even show a hint of strain. It handled scrubbing clips in iMovie, exporting, copying, and playing high-resolution video, mixing music in GarageBand, surfing with tons of tabs open, and browsing with 30+ finder windows open (just for kicks) without breaking a sweat (or a spinning beachball). Very impressive. It seemed every bit as responsive as my MacBook Pro. I think I may pick one up very soon.

I have installed Coolbook as my MBA was running extremely hot. I live in humid state as well which didnt help anything. I have since installed Coolbook and SmcFanControl and my machine is running 'much' better. The CPU temp is much lower than usual. The fan speed is still alot higher but thats because I have SmcFanControl running as well. Go MBA!! I do love the machine even though it needs help like this at times!

I haven't tried to calibrate my display yet. I don't spend too much time looking at color critical stuff these days. Purely based on observations by eye, I would say the reproducible gamut is wider on the new displays. There seems to be less banding on gradients. I have printed a couple of photos and the display profile out of the box seems to do a pretty good job of accurately representing the image to be printed.

I suspect there will be many products to reduce glare on these screens. But I had enough problems getting a screen protector applied to my iPhone without bubbles. I anticipate applying one to a 15" screen to be a tricky proposition.

cool! in that case, i might as well consider it in the future! thanks a lot! :)

did you try calibrating the monitor? how are the colors compared to the matte screens?

btw, maybe powersupport (http://powersupportusa.com) will come out with a matte or anti-glare protector. i saw on their site before that they have one for the old mbp but i havent seen a new one yet... I use their anti-glare protector for my iphone and it works great!

I have not found the glare to be a huge issue. I tend to use it indoors (as the weather is not that great in the UK in October :)). But even in a well lit office I have found little cause to complain.

I am not aware of any matte protectors specifically designed for the new MBP screens. However, I did hear that Radtech (http://www.radtech.us) are working on this. I am sure many other companies are doing the same.
